Political

Played key roles in the six consecutive successful election and re-election campaigns of Judge Sol Gothard, who has never lost an election and who currently serves as Senior Judge, Court of Appeal, 5th Circuit, State of Louisiana.

Judge Gothard (D), as an unknown New York native defeated four heavily backed democratic competitors to win the election for Juvenile Court Judge, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, with 71% of the vote. After two successful re-elections to Juvenile Court, Judge Gothard then won the election for Louisiana’s 5th Circuit Court of Appeal, again by 71%. In 2000, Judge Gothard won his second re-election in a heavily contested campaign for Court of Appeals by 61% against a Republican opponent in a 70% Republican district.

Directed the formation of the Louisiana Chapter of a national non-profit organization, writing/broadcasting press releases, appearing on live network television talk shows, recruiting the Mayor of New Orleans as keynote speaker, garnering extensive newspaper/radio coverage, and surpassing the estimates of local fundraising professionals by raising tens of thousands of dollars in 45 minutes from 75 community leaders during the 1991 recession.

  • Won multiple Louisiana Press Association awards in Journalism, and the Robert F. Gibbons ward in Fiction.  Wrote short stories, one of which was awarded/published in Ellipsis literary magazine. Wrote and delivered speeches to groups of up to 300.
  • Edited the acclaimed L’Observateur Newspaper, supervising photography, layout and editorial departments.
  • Wrote multi-media advertising copy for a Top Ten Louisiana advertising agency and a national Atlanta-based telemarketing company.
